Professional development
After completing your Monash engineering studies, we want you to be highly skilled and ready to offer your contribution to industry. Throughout the course of your studies, you’ll have several opportunities to learn about and actually experience what it’s like to be an engineer.
Creating well-rounded engineers
Outstanding academic performance is not always first on an employer's must-have list; first and foremost, many employers want graduates who are highly skilled, well-rounded individuals. Many employers place interpersonal and communication skills, critical reasoning and problem-solving skills, as well as passion, at the top of their list.

Monash Engineering Leadership Program
The Monash Engineering Leadership Program is a two-year extra-curricular program that will prepare you to be a leader in your chosen engineering field. The program engages extensively with the private sector through interactive workshops, industry visits and networking sessions.

Engineering Co-operative (Co-op) Education Program
Students have the opportunity to apply for the Co-op program and gain valuable real work experience throughout their degree. Co-op is a paid 3, 6 or 12 month term with Industry employers, in summer or to coincide with a semester. The Co-op program is not just an internship, it promotes continuous learning by alternating study with meaningful work-based learning to provide an enriched experience and equip you for your future career as an engineer.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
CPD is a compulsory professional practice requirement for all Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Professional Engineering students at Monash Clayton. The professional practice activities you are required to do outside the classroom will help you build your employability skills and grow your networks.

Monash Industry Team Initiative (MITI)
As an undergraduate or postgraduate student, the Monash industry team initiative gives you an opportunity to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with leading Australian and global industry partners.

Engineering Graduate Internships - Work Integrated Learning (WIL)
Graduate students complete a 6 credit point WIL unit with a host organisation to undertake a pre-approved project. The findings are presented to the host organisation by way of a consultation paper, report, commentary, manual, submission or speech. A diverse range of industries and sectors, including government departments, private industry and not-for-profit organisations support our WIL students. Projects are supervised by the host organisation and a faculty academic supervisor.

Engineering Masters Professional Development Program (MPDP)
Offered to Master of Advanced Engineering and Master of Professional Engineering students, the MPDP offers a range of professional practice events and activities that will help build your employability skills. You will have the opportunity to develop workplace competencies, prepare for industry expectations and work with cultural differences in a global context.

Women in Engineering
Engineering is for everyone. We have various programs and initiatives to support girls and women in their engineering journeys.
