Engineering Doctoral Program
Students enrolled in a PhD must complete the Engineering Doctoral Program. This program is made up of two components: Training and Coursework. You will be required to show proof of the completion or progress of the Engineering Doctoral Program at your Confirmation of Candidature.
Students enrolled in the Master of Engineering Science (Research) do not need to complete the coursework element and are only required to complete the training.
Training
There are four compulsory training modules that should be completed within the first 3 months of your candidature.
These modules are:
- Monash Graduate Research Induction (online)
- Research Integrity (online)
- Faculty of Engineering Induction (combination of online and face-to-face)
- Student Project Safety (Risk Management) (face-to-face)
All of the above modules can be accessed or registered for via myDevelopment.
Coursework
All PhD students must complete two coursework units during their candidature. It is recommended that at least one of these units be completed before the Confirmation of Candidature milestone. A list of coursework units available in the Engineering Doctoral Program can be found here.
Students must choose coursework units in consultation with their supervisor. Any changes to coursework unit enrolment must be made using the Adding or Discontinuing Coursework unit form.
Students wishing to apply for credit for prior study can do so via the online credit system.
