Visit the Nova Rover Team on Open Day 2018

Connecting with student clubs and societies is one of the best ways to experience the potential of engineering education on Open Day. Happening this Sunday 5 August, head to the heart of the engineering precinct at Monash Clayton to enjoy the Alliance Lane Festival, where you’ll find free coffee, BBQs and student clubs and societies such as Monash Engineering Student Society (MESS), Robogals and the Nova Rover Team.
In June 2018, the Nova Rover Team became the first Australian team to compete in the University Rover Challenge in Utah, a robotics competition that taught them valuable lessons in both engineering design and teamwork. The team came 14th out of 36 teams, an exceptional effort for their first ever attempt.
Here’s a video recap of the trip:
Team communications lead Thomas Shiels shared the following update:
“Since coming back from the University Rover Challenge in Utah, we've already been focusing on system design sessions, as well as completing a team restructure, and preparing for Open Day. We're also working on building our relationship with the Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering department. We met with Mike Zenere shortly before we left for competition and he was incredibly excited for our work and provided us with resources and guidance. The team is also planning a presentation of our new ideas and designs for the 2019 rover to the engineers at Boeing's Fisherman's Bend facility. We're looking forward to discovering what unique advice and resources they can provide to help us for URC 2019."
The University Rover Challenge is just one of the many incredible opportunities engineering students at Monash can choose to experience throughout their studies. On Open Day, talk to representatives of the student clubs and societies to discover all the added benefits to both your study and your career. Stop by and see the Nova Rover in action too!
Make sure you check out the Open Day Planner to get the most out of your day on campus. We look forward to seeing plenty of aspiring engineers this Sunday.
