Civil Engineering student Jacqueline wins defence industry scholarship

Second-year civil engineering student Jacqueline Gregg has been awarded a Defence Women In STEM Undergraduate Scholarship from the Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG), Australia’s leading agency responsible for applying science and technology to safeguard Australia and its natural interests.
Jacqueline is one of 25 students across 13 Australian universities to receive the scholarship, which aims to encourage high-performing women to continue their university study in STEM fields and improve the representation of women in the STEM workforce. Scholarship winners demonstrated academic excellence, an interest in a defence career and engagement in community leadership and extracurricular activities, and will receive mentoring by Defence STEM professionals, opportunities to undertake STEM placements within defence and up to $10,000 per year for two years while studying.
“The work done in the engineering and technology sector of the DSTG is inspiring and encourages me to study diligently, which this scholarship will even further help me do,” said Jacqueline. “I am excited about undertaking the placements and receiving mentoring and look forward to gaining valuable insights into the Defence field.”
Jacqueline is studying the Masters Accelerated Pathway, and is on track to receive both her Bachelors and Masters degree in Civil Engineering in just five years. She has also applied for the DSTG 2022 STEM Cadetship program to further explore her options for a future career in defence. “This scholarship will allow me the opportunity to fully focus on my studies, learn as much as I can about applying my engineering skills in a defence context, and ultimately accomplish my goal of becoming a great engineer,” she said.
Our warmest congratulations to Jacqueline in this significant achievement.
