Engineering innovation at its fastest...

Brighton Grammar School’s "Team Lunar" are the new STEM Racing World Champions, taking home Engineering, Fastest Car and Integrated Digital Engineering awards in Singapore.
Their winning edge? Custom 3D-printed aluminium wheels developed with the Monash Centre for Additive Manufacturing. Using advanced Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) technology, the team achieved a design impossible to achieve with traditional manufacturing methods.
Guided by Dr Yang Tian and Bryce Melville (pictured), the students toured MCAM’s world-class facilities, learned about advanced additive manufacturing and refined their final design with MCAM’s post-processing tools.
In acknowledging the MCAM collaboration, the team said "...you have given us the opportunity to develop skills in teamwork, leadership and problem-solving...your support has empowered us to part of that journey, inspiring us to push boundaries..."
A great example of how Monash’s research and facilities are fuelling the next generation of innovators.
Congratulations to Team Lunar and MCAM teams behind this world-beating success!
