I am a Human-Robot Interaction researcher with a Computer Science and Human-Computer Interaction background. Before joining Monash University, first as a Research Fellow (2020-2023) and later on as a Lecturer(2023- ), I was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow working on human-robot collaboration at the University of Waterloo (Canada) from 2017-2019. I obtained a PhD in Sciences and Technologies of Information and Communication from Université de Bretagne-Sud (France) in 2016,  a Master of Science in Computer Science from the École Nationale d’Ingénieurs de Brest (France) in 2012, and a Bachelor in Computer Systems Engineering from Universidad EAFIT (Colombia) in 2010.

Qualifications

  • PhD, Université Bretagne Sud

Research Interests

My research interests lie at the intersection of human-robot interaction, human-centred and embodied AI, and human-centred design. Specifically, I develop autonomous, intelligent agents (virtually and/or physically embodied) that can adequately interact with humans in both short- and long-term scenarios.

I am actively looking for Masters by research and PhD students interested in human-robot interaction, interactive robot learning, and human-behaviour modelling.

Complete the expression of interest form if you are interested in applying (see here details). Current projects I’m keen to explore include:

  • Long-term and adaptive human-robot interaction
  • Aligning task representations between humans and robots
  • Modelling human behaviours that are not goal-driven
  • Socially aware robot navigation
  • Socially assistive robotics for physical wellbeing
