Monash engineers awarded Australia Day 2019 Honours

Congratulations to alumni  Richard Gower AM and John McKenzie OAM for their recognition in the Australia Day 2019 Honours List.

Monash Engineering extends its warmest congratulations to alumni Richard Gower AM and John McKenzie OAM for their recognition in the Australia Day 2019 Honours List.

Diploma of Engineering (Electronic and Computing)(1980) alumnus Richard Gower AM was made a Member of the General Division in the Order of Australia for his significant service to the recreational and historical aviation sector. Richard served as Director of Royal Victorian Aero Club (RVAC) from 1990-2011, and is currently a Technical Committee Member for the Royal Federation of Aero Clubs Australia (RFACA).

Graduate Diploma in Highway Transport Engineering (1983) alumnus John McKenzie OAM was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the General Division for his service to the community, largely through the Anglican Church. John was also an Executive General Manager of RACV for 10 years and served on the Monash University Accident Research Centre board in the 1990s. He was also involved in the development of mandatory seat belt regulations.
