From Monash to Manhattan - Global Discovery Program 2025

On 6 July, Monash University’s Global Discovery Program (GDP) will send this year’s cohort of scholars on a unique professional and personal journey to New York City.
The GDP is an award-winning initiative that offers select students a 10-day immersive experience, connecting them with influential Monash alumni and senior leaders from top-tier organisations across the city. The program is designed to expand students’’ global outlook, challenge their thinking, and inspire them to lead with impact.
Ten participants will meet with prominent Monash alumni at their respective corporate offices including Effie Worldwide, Moelis & Company, PERSUIT, OnePointFive, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Indonesia to the United Nations and more.
Monash Engineering congratulates Grace Taylor, a fifth-year Robotics Engineering undergraduate whose GDP application was successful amid fierce competition.
With a strong interest in how technology can be used to address complex global challenges, her passion has steadily evolved to focus on the role of innovation in creating lasting social impact.
In 2022, she co-founded Glee Givers, a Melbourne-based charity that refurbishes laptops and distributes them to low-income individuals. The initiative supports digital access, helping recipients apply for jobs and pursue their education.
While proud of the organisation’s growth, Grace recognises that its long-term success depends on strong, adaptive leadership -something she is keen to develop further.
Her decision to apply for the Global Discovery Program was driven by a desire to learn directly from seasoned industry leaders and gain insights into leading sustainable, community-driven initiatives. She hopes the experience will help her strengthen Glee Givers’ future and expand its reach.
We wish Grace all the best as she develops her professional presence; takes part in leadership workshops; joins a pitching masterclass designed to prepare her for meaningful networking opportunities; and attends a reception event with New York-based alumni at the conclusion of the program.
