New Director appointed ARC Research Hub for Smart Process Design and Control

The Australian Research Council (ARC) has confirmed Professor Sankar Bhattacharya as the new Director of the ARC Research Hub for Smart Process Design and Control at Monash University.

Professor Bhattacharya - currently Head of Chemical and Biological Engineering - brings extensive experience across industry and academia, with research expertise spanning energy systems, waste processing and sustainable technologies.

In his new role, he will lead the Hub’s efforts to transform mineral and metallurgical industries through advanced computational modelling, artificial intelligence and low-carbon process innovation.

The Hub is a collaborative initiative bringing together leading universities and industry partners to deliver research with tangible impact and support Australia’s transition to cleaner, smarter industrial processes.
