Wheels of Change - Exploring the Potential of Delivery Robots

In Europe and the US, autonomous robots have been delivering fast food and groceries to people's homes for years.
Amid legal and safety concerns, adoption of this technology in Australia has been slow. If such constraints can be overcome, autonomous delivery robots offer significant potential to reduce traffic, pollution, and labour costs.
Under the supervision of Professor Hai Vu of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the Monash Connected Autonomous Vehicle student team has developed an autonomous delivery vehicle.
Named "ARI", the robot is designed to perform in controlled environments such as shopping centres, hospitals, industrial parks and campuses. With unique features such as the ability to heat and chill compartments, ARI has the capability to deliver multiple orders at specific temperatures.
The team and ARI featured in The Guardian - read the full article here.
