Dual nomination for Engineers Australia Excellence Awards

Today, Engineers Australia has announced nominees for this year's annual Excellence Awards.

Monash Engineering acknowledges Colin Caprani of Civil and Environmental Engineering who has has been nominated in two prestigious categories (Victoria) - Professional Engineer of the Year and Project of the Year: Heavy Vehicle Structural Assessment Permit System (HVSAPS).

Of the HVSAPS project - a partnership between Monash Engineering, the Department of Transport and Planning and WSP in Australia - Colin says "HVSAPS is a good example of what happens when research, government and industry work together on a practical infrastructure problem."

He continues "The project turns detailed bridge assessment into a faster, more consistent process for heavy-vehicle access, while keeping engineering judgement focused on the cases that genuinely need it. It has been a privilege to work with DTP and WSP on something that has a direct public and industry benefit for Victoria, as the Premier's Office press releases acknowledge."

The dual nomination recognises Colin's outstanding leadership in engineering, and the real-world impact of his innovative research which is helping improve the safety and efficiency of heavy vehicle transport infrastructure.
