World Space Week with Monash Nova Rover

As the world celebrates World Space Week, the Monash Nova Rover team reflects on an incredible experience at IAC2025, where innovation and space exploration took centre stage.

Invited by the NSW Government, the team showcased their latest rover, "Banksia" as part of the student rover and rocketry display. Throughout the week, Nova Rover engaged in extensive outreach inspiring students, families, and space enthusiasts alike.

The final day was a highlight, with doors open to the public and crowds lining up to take the controls and operate the rover - a true testament to the excitement surrounding Australia’s growing space sector.

The Nova Rover team presented three academic publications, highlighting their ongoing contribution to space research and technology:

• The Pink Rover Initiative: Launching the Next Generation of Space Innovators
• Real-Time RSSI-Based Antenna Tracking: Leveraging Machine Learning for Lunar and Martian Rover Communication
• Automated Mapping of Gale Crater’s Stratigraphy using HiRISE Imagery

From hands-on demonstrations to cutting-edge research, Monash Nova Rover continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible and to inspire the next generation of Australian space innovators.
