Today, the The Australian Academy of Science (AAS) has welcomed 26 Fellows and two Corresponding Members to its Fellowship, recognising distinguished scientists whose work spans fields from fundamental physics to biomedical research.
President of the Academy Professor Chennupati Jagadish AC said "This cohort includes scientists whose work is rewriting the textbooks and has changed the world.”
Monash Engineering warmly congratulates Sir John Monash Distinguished Professor and Australian Research Council (ARC) Laureate Fellow Professor Huanting Wang of Monash Chemical and Biological Engineering on being elected a Fellow of the Academy.
Internationally renowned for his contributions to membrane science and chemical engineering, his pioneering research has advanced the design of novel membranes for separation and purification processes including mineral extraction, water desalination and water purification. His work continues to drive more energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable technologies for industrial and environmental applications.
Of his citation, Professor Wang says: "I am deeply honoured and humbled to be elected to the Australian Academy of Science. This recognition reflects the dedication and creativity of the many outstanding students, early career researchers, and collaborators I have had the privilege to work with over the years.
I am so grateful for their contributions and all the support I have received from my colleagues. I look forward to continuing our efforts to advance membrane science and sustainable technologies and contribute to the Academy."
Professor Wang’s ASS Fellowship reflects the global impact of his research, and the role Australian science and engineering continues to play in addressing some of the world’s most pressing environmental and industrial challenges.
Monash Engineering is proud to celebrate this outstanding achievement and the inspiration it provides to future generations of researchers, engineers and innovators.
Professor Wang is Pro Vice-Chancellor and President (Suzhou) at Monash University and is a Clarivate Highly Cited Researcher. He has received multiple national and international awards and recognition for his pioneering research which can be viewed here.
