Packaging research leader named PIDA finalist

Monash Engineering acknowledges Professor Gil Garnier of Monash Chemical and Biological Engineering who has been named a finalist in the 2026 Australasian Packaging Innovation & Design (PIDA) Awards.

Professor Garnier is one of only two candidates to be nominated for "Industry Packaging Professional of the Year," a category which celebrates long-term contribution, leadership and excellence across the packaging sector.

Director of the BioPRIA (Bioresource Processing Research Institute of Australia) and Australian Research Council (ARC) Training Centre in Sustainable Materials and Responsible Technologies for Packaging (SMaRT-Pack), Professor Garnier continues to drive innovation in sustainable packaging and materials research.

We’re proud to see his leadership and impact recognised and wish him well at the Awards to be held at Crown, Melbourne in July.
