Mr. Ashkan Khashei

Postgraduate Student
Department of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering

Ashkan is currently an Assistant Lecturer and PhD Researcher with the Low-Carbon Energy Lab at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. His research focuses on power system dynamics and stability in emerging renewable-rich grids, with particular emphasis on inverter-based resource protection and tripping phenomena.
Ashkan has extensive experience in power system modelling, simulation, and hardware-in-the-loop testing. He is involved in several industry-linked research projects, including the RACE for 2030 project on Dynamics of Distribution Networks with a High Share of DERs and the AR-PST project on Grid Integration and Operation of Large Electrical Loads.
Ashkan is highly interested in understanding the operational challenges of future low-carbon power systems, particularly those associated with high penetrations of distributed energy resources, inverter-based technologies, and emerging large electrical loads.
