Miss Daria Shumkova

Postgraduate Student
Department of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering

I’m a PhD student at Monash University’s Neurobionics Laboratory, where I work on brain implants aiming to restore vision. Before my PhD I lived and worked in Russia, the Netherlands, France, and Japan – and along the way, I’ve had the chance to work with some pretty unusual research subjects: mice, squids, and even humans.

Ultimately, I’m interested in what neural interfaces can teach us about the brain – not just how to fix it, but how it works.
