Water quality analytical laboratory

The Living Laboratory for Water Technologies’ water quality analytical lab hosts a variety of instrumentation for measuring common water quality parameters, such as: pH, conductivity, salinity, total suspended and total dissolved solids, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, particle size distribution, and metals with speciation and trace element capability. The water quality lab is primarily focused on supporting research within the Living Lab, wherein we study a variety of green water treatment technologies, water sensitive design approaches, and green infrastructure systems. However, we are open to new research collaborations outside this purview. Our growing lab has the following analytical and sample preparation instruments:

  • ThermoFisher Aquion IC system hyphenated to iCAPTM RQ (Single Quad) ICP-MS for analysis of trace elements and metal speciation
  • AccuSizer AD Optical Particle Sizer
  • pH/DO/Conductivity multiparameter meter
  • Analytical balance
  • Block digester
  • Ultrasonic cleaner
  • Drying oven
  • Heated water bath
  • Shaker table
  • Stirrer/hotplate

If you’re interested in collaborating with us or would like to speak with someone about the water quality analytical lab, please get in touch with Anna Lintern and/or Brandon Winfrey.
