Prof. Banaszak Holl is Professor and Head of Chemical Engineering. His research program is focused in the areas of the structure and properties of biological materials, nanotechnology for drug and gene delivery, polymer composites, and sustainable polymer science and engineering.

A diverse and dynamic group of graduate students and post-doctoral fellows come from a wide variety of backgrounds including Biomedical Engineering, Biophysics, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Macromolecular Science and Engineering, and Physics. Given the interdisciplinary nature of the research projects, the differing perspectives of the various scientific and engineering disciplines are critical to our approach to discovery and innovation.

We have active research programs in the following areas:

The development of targeted nanotherapeutic devices and imaging agents for the treatment of diseases such as cancer.

The nanoscale structure and properties of bone as related to Osteoporosis.

The nanoscale structure and properties of ligament as related to anterior cruciate ligament failure.

Nanoplastics in the environment.

Catalytic methods for depolymerization and the development of a polymer circular economy.
