Research Fellow
Department of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering

Dr Mohammad Ramezanitaghartapeh is a Research Fellow at the Low Carbon Energy Laboratory (LCEL), Monash University, specialising in electrochemistry and sustainable energy technologies. His current research focuses on the performance and degradation of water electrolysers under flexible and renewable-energy-driven operation, with the aim of improving the durability, cost-effectiveness and sustainability of green hydrogen technologies.

Mohammad completed his PhD in Chemistry at Swinburne University of Technology in collaboration with CSIRO, focusing on lithium–sulfur batteries and advanced electrode materials. His research in sustainable energy storage was recognised with the 2019 Green Talents Award from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Alongside academia, Mohammad has extensive industrial R&D experience spanning iron-slurry flow batteries, lithium-ion battery recycling, photovoltaic-module recycling, precious-metal recovery and hydrogen technologies. His research bridges fundamental electrochemistry with technology development, scale-up and commercialisation. He currently collaborates with industry, government and academic organisations in Australia and internationally, including Woodside Energy, CSIRO, the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), among others. His broader research goal is to enable durable, scalable and environmentally sustainable low-carbon energy technologies.
