Mr. Shahab Uddin

Postgraduate student
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering

I am Shahab Uddin from Bangladesh. Currently, I am immersed in doctoral research focusing on climate change and water resources at Monash University, Australia. I pursued my master’s degree from Tokyo University, Japan, and made an advanced research contribution on flood risk assessment due to climate change and climate internal variability by considering 12,000 years of climate data. I have extensive experience operating high-performance computers (HPC) to run the global hydrodynamic model. I received the 2nd place research award from Bangladesh in the Student Paper Competition, organized by AABEA, Motor City, USA, during my B.Sc. program. I also received the best research paper award at an international conference. My research mainly focuses on advancing our understanding of climate change’s impacts on extreme weather events. My many research contributions have garnered significance, meriting publication in various esteemed daily newspapers, such as Prothom Alo and Jagonews.

Qualifications

  • B.Sc., DUET
  • M.Sc., The Tokyo University, Japan

Expertise

Global Hydrodynamic Model simulation

I have extensive experience operating high-performance computers (HPC) to run the global hydrodynamic model.

Python

I used python for analysing climate change and ENSO impact on flood occurrence considering large-ensemble climate data (12,000 years).

Research Interests

My research primarily focuses on advancing our understanding of the impacts of climate change and internal climate variability on extreme weather events and river water quality. To achieve this, I utilize large-ensemble climate data, the global hydrodynamic model CaMa-Flood, and comprehensive statistical analysis and modelling.
