Assessment Feedback and Viewing

Taking the time to reflect on your final assessment performance can make a huge difference to how you approach future assessment. This process of self‐assessment can enable you to evaluate your own work, and to identify the areas in which you may need to improve. Feedback on your performance in FIT units is provided in three stages:

Stage 1
Summary Feedback - available on your unit's Moodle site once official results are released.

Stage 2
Scheduled final assessment feedback - you may apply to view your scheduled final assessment.

Stage 3
If - after completing the first two stages (viewed the unit summary feedback and viewed your final assessment) - you still require more information about your performance you may submit a written request for further feedback from your Chief Examiner. The written request must outline:

  • what feedback has been received thus far and why it is considered inadequate to support your learning
  • any exceptional circumstances that have prevented you from accessing all available feedback.

It is important to note that where your request is assessed as non-specific or lacking in substance, the Chief Examiner (or nominee) may refer you back to the Unit Summary Feedback - provided on Moodle following the release of results.

Scheduled final assessment viewing and feedback (Australian Campuses only)

You can apply to view your scheduled final assessment responses and marking guide for the purpose of your own personal learning.

Please note the following conditions of viewing:

  • All fail grade examinations have already been verified in accordance with University and faculty procedures.
  • Academic staff will not enter into negotiation over final marks.
  • Students must not make a copy of the assessment responses or marking notes in any form, e.g. screenshot, photograph, copy by hand. Failure to observe these rules could result in disciplinary action.
  • A request for viewing/feedback is independent from a request for a correction of mark. If after viewing your assessment responses and receiving feedback on your performance in the final assessment you believe a marking error has been made, the University procedure (refer to page 6. Item 5. Student requests for correction of their mark due to an error) must be followed.

Timing of feedback:

  • Once applications have closed, a staff member from your unit teaching team will contact you to schedule a viewing time. A viewing session (maximum of 10 minutes) may take place in person or over a Zoom meeting.
  • Feedback is provided at a time designated by the unit teaching team. If you do not appear at your scheduled time, no further opportunity for viewing will be provided.

Applications for final assessment feedback for the Semester 2 2025 final assessment period open on 4 December 2025 and close at 10am (AEDT) on 5 January 2026.
