The following information applies to:
- Current IT students applying to transfer into another IT program
- Monash students external to the faculty applying to transfer to an IT program
- Monash Malaysia IT students applying to transfer into the same course at Clayton
Internal course transfers
Eligibility and Selection
You must meet course prerequisites, minimum WAM and have completed at least 12 credit points of a Monash University course to be eligible for transfer.
- Selection for course transfer is a competitive process and approval is subject to the availability of places in each degree.
- The average required to be offered a place in a course may be higher than the percentage listed below as the strength of the applicant pool and the places available vary from year to year.
- We use the entire academic record as part of the selection considerations.
- SFR grades are not included in the WAM calculation.

Malaysia campus to Clayton campus transfer
Transfer from the same course at Malaysia to Clayton campus
Academic criteria
To be eligible for a transfer you'll normally need to have:
- completed at least 24 credit points
- an overall minimum WAM of >= 50%
- have not been before an Academic Progress Committee (APC) panel in the year leading up to your application to transfer
- not be subject to an APC panel at the time of applying
- undergraduate students must not have commenced the final year project i.e. you must complete part 1 and 2 of the final year project at the same campus
Applying for a transfer
When you apply for a course or campus transfer, you must continue with the requirements of your current degree - this includes enrolling in units for your current degree during the re-enrolment period if applicable. Applications will be assessed for credit transfer as part of the selection process.

You may be offered an older course version if your transfer is approved.
Frequently asked questions
How many credits am I eligible for after I transfer?
You will receive the maximum amount of credit you are eligible for as part of your offer. The amount of credit you receive will depend on the number of units you’ve completed in your current course and whether they fit in your new course. You’ll have the opportunity to have your credit reviewed if you wish if you receive an offer.
Will my WAM carry over to the new course?
Only results from units completed at Monash you receive as credit from your old course will contribute to the WAM in your new course.
Can I apply for a course transfer while I am on intermission?
Yes, as long as you meet the entry requirements you can apply for a course transfer while on intermission.
If I have a deferred or supplementary exam, am I eligible for a course transfer?
Yes, you may still be eligible for a course transfer. You may be eligible for a conditional offer and your application will be assessed after the results of your deferred or supplementary exam are released.
Where can I get enrolment assistance for my new course?

If I miss the course transfer application deadline, can I email my application?
No, all applications must be submitted within the dates on the Course or campus transfer website. If you miss the deadline, you’ll need to wait until applications open for the next intake.
