Supporting students
If you’re a staff member who interacts with students regularly, students may come to you to talk about their worries, concerns or mental health.
If you’re concerned for a student, recommend Monash counselling to them – it’s a free and confidential counselling service provided by qualified psychologists.
All students can access ten face-to-face or Telehealth counselling appointments.
Our University Health Services also provides accessible, affordable and confidential on-campus health services to all students and their families. The team of general practitioners (GPs) and nurses offers general medical consultations, including mental health support. The health service team works closely with Monash Counselling to provide co-located accessible services.
There’s a wide range of support services available to students.

If you need advice before you speak with a student and refer them to a mental health resource, consider reaching out to a Mental Health First Aid Ambassador. Monash has staff trained in Mental Health First Aid who have in-depth knowledge of all the resources available and understand how to best support students' mental health.
