Monash Engineering thanks everyone who joined us at the inaugural Dean’s Engineering Alumni Reception last week.

What an incredible evening celebrating the excellence and strength of our Monash Engineering community. It was wonderful to see so many alumni and industry partners come together to celebrate innovation, leadership and impact.

Guests enjoyed an inspiring keynote address from Lt Gen (USAF Ret) Larry James, Professor of Practice for Space Innovation at Monash University and Strategic Advisor to the SmartSat CRC. He shared fascinating insights into his career journey including reflections on 'Living for Impact', and the evolving role of engineering in shaping the future.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of three inaugural Monash Engineering Alumni Awards. Recognising the achievements of our outstanding graduates, alumni were nominated earlier in the year and selected by a judging panel against award category criteria.

The Monash Engineering Alumni Award Winners for 2025 are:

  • Monash Engineering Early-Career Excellence Award – Dr Babak Boroujeni
  • Monash Women in Engineering Award – Dr Zafira Madzin
  • Monash Engineering Impact Award – Daniel Lambert AM

Congratulations to our award recipients and all nominees. Your contributions are an inspiration to our global alumni network, and testament to the impact Monash Engineers are making around the world.

Guests also had the opportunity to tour Monash Engineering’s cutting-edge Makerspace, seeing first hand the innovative facilities that support hands-on learning and creative problem-solving for the next generation of engineers.
