Monash Engineering is proud to collaborate with CSIRO's Data61 Robotics facility to advance the field of human-centred robotics.
Led by Professor Dana Kulić, Director of Monash Robotics, the partnership is delivering research that enables intelligent systems to interact more naturally, safely and effectively with people.
Of the alliance, Professor Yan Tat Wong Head of the Department of ECSE Monash University says "The collaboration between Professor Dana Kulić and CSIRO’s Data61 Robotics facility brings together world-class research, industry insight and a shared vision for innovation. Together we’re advancing robotics and shaping a future where intelligent systems can empower people, industries and communities globally."
The partnership is part of a longer-term strategic initiative to establish CSIRO as the national hub for robotics and connect and activate the fragmented robotics ecosystem in Australia. Data61 Research Director of Cyber Physical Systems Dr Navinda Kottege explains "The partnership between CSIRO and Monash University is a testament to our shared commitment to advancing robotics research and development.”
By collaborating on joint research to fulfil their missions and deliver enhanced value to the Australian economy, society and the environment, Dr Kottege added "We have established a new robotics lab and an outdoor test facility in Clayton, which is fully equipped with state-of-the-art robots and tools. We are integrating HRI capabilities into CSIRO’s expertise in field robotics, with the goal of uplifting productivity in Australian industries through increased robotics adoption, operationalising recommendations of the national robotics strategy."
