Dr Yang Tian from Monash Centre for Additive Manufacturing (MCAM) represented Monash Engineering on the global stage this week at TCT Asia & TCT Shenzhen in Shanghai, Asia-Pacific’s leading event for additive manufacturing.

Dr Tian showcased the latest technologies, materials and applications emerging from MCAM, while highlighting the strength of Australia’s additive manufacturing ecosystem to an international audience of industry leaders and researchers.

His keynote “Linking Industry and Research: Translating Innovation in Additive Manufacturing” was part of the Co-Create the AM Future: Building a Global Collaborative Ecosystem for Additive Manufacturing" forum.

Focused on bridging the gap between research and industrial adoption, Dr Tian emphasised the importance of enabling stronger industry–academia collaboration, and accelerating the commercialisation of additive manufacturing technologies.

His key insights highlighted the importance of early industry engagement, co-development approaches, and aligning innovation with real-world manufacturing needs.

“Participating in TCT Asia 2026 as both a presenter and panellist was a valuable opportunity to engage with global leaders across the additive manufacturing ecosystem,” Dr Tian said.

“The discussions reinforced the importance of building a globally connected AM ecosystem and strengthening collaboration between industry and research to accelerate the translation of innovation into real-world applications.”

The engagement underscores MCAM’s growing international profile and its role in shaping the future of advanced manufacturing through global collaboration.
