Monash tackles global challenges with new Masters specialisations

Monash Engineering has launched two new specialisations - Renewable Energy and Smart Manufacturing - in its Master of Engineering program.
The new specialisations, to be offered in the one-year (full- time) Masters program at the Monash Clayton Campus from Semester 1, 2024, align with the strengths of the university and its focus on building a sustainable future.
The Renewable Energy specialisation feels like an “inevitable” development for the Faculty, said Deputy Dean of Operations, Professor Chris Davies.
“It brings together Monash Engineering’s deep technical expertise and our passionate commitment to making a difference,” said Professor Davies.
“It also aligns very closely with the themes that thread through the Monash strategic vision, Impact 2030.”
The new Masters specialisation in Smart Manufacturing highlights Monash Engineering’s close connections to industry, said Professor Adrian Neild, Deputy Dean Strategic Initiatives and Director of Monash Smart Manufacturing.
“We have a purpose-built facility located here on the Clayton Campus that works with organisations to further develop their smart manufacturing capabilities,” said Professor Neild.
“This gives students extensive opportunities to connect with industry partners.”
Students undertaking the Masters programs will have access to the world-leading facilities and opportunities available on campus. These include the famous Monash Makerspace, a place to transform engineering theory into practical innovation, work integrated learning programs, and industry connection initiatives.
Monash Engineering is a global Top 50 engineering school and one of the largest in Australia. It combines six decades of globally-recognised research with world leading facilities, and industry-focused learning.
