Celebrating a Royal Academy of Engineering Fellowship

The Royal Academy of Engineering has elected 74 new Fellows at its AGM on 23 September 2025.

Monash Engineering warmly congratulates Professor Ranjith Pathegama Gamage of Civil and Environmental Engineering who has been elected an International Fellow.

Of this achievement he says "I am truly honoured to be elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (FREng). This recognition reflects the collective support of my colleagues, collaborators and students. I am especially grateful to my nominator Professor Martin Blunt from Imperial College London for his confidence and support. I look forward to contributing to the Academy’s mission of advancing engineering for the benefit of society."

In addition to this great honour, in 2025 Professor Pathegama Gamage has received a Fulbright Scholarship and also an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Research Award.

Professor Ha H. Bui, Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering says "This latest recognition adds to Ranjith’s already impressive list of international accolades including fellowships in Australia, China, India and now the UK. It is truly remarkable and very rare for one individual to be elected a Fellow across so many national academies, reflecting the global impact of his research and leadership."

New Fellows of the Royal Academy will be formally admitted at a ceremony in London on 18 November. Together, they will contribute their expertise to the Academy’s mission: to engineer a better future for all.
