Shaun Gregory Engineers Australia Award

Professor Shaun Gregory - Director, Centre for Biomedical Technologies at QUT, and Adjunct / Honorary Professor at Monash Engineering Mechanical and Aerospace - has been awarded the 2025 Batterham Medal for Engineering Excellence at the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE) Awards.

Presented by Engineers Australia National President Dr Raj Aseervatham, the Batterham Medal recognises early-career engineers whose innovation and impact are advancing Australia’s technological and scientific capabilities.

A leading cardiovascular engineer, Professor Gregory was honoured for his pioneering work developing next-generation artificial hearts and cardiovascular support systems, innovations transforming cardiac treatment and saving lives worldwide.

The Batterham Medal celebrates the next wave of innovators: engineers whose work doesn’t just solve problems, but inspires others to think differently and imagine new possibilities.

Monash Engineering congratulates Professor Gregory for this recognition of his outstanding and life-changing research.
