Up close with aerospace innovation

Last week, Dr Katherine Grigoriou from Monash Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering led a group of female aerospace engineering students on an industry site visit to Boeing Aerostructures Australia.
The cohort - spanning first to sixth year and undertaking double degrees combining Aerospace Engineering with Commerce, Science, Law, Biomedical Science and Arts - reflects the breadth of pathways into the sector.
Organised with the support of Boeing’s Gemma Sibillin, the visit featured insights from leading female engineers who shared their day-to-day experiences, and guided tours of the facility.
Students enjoyed a rare, close-up view of the manufacturing process behind aircraft wing control surfaces, an experience that offered practical insight and inspiration for the next generation of engineers.
Monash Engineering appreciates the efforts of Gemma and the Boeing team, and thanks them for their great support of our students.
