Telangana invites Monash research and co-innovation collaboration

During an official visit to Australia, Telangana IT and Industries Minister Sridhar Babu Duddilla met with senior representatives from Monash University (Melbourne) to explore opportunities for collaboration.

Following a welcome from Professor Matthew Gillespie, Vice Provost (Academic Affairs), the Minister and delegation met with executives and academics including Professor Mohan Yellishetty and Professor Hai Vu of Monash Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering; and Associate Professor Sudha Mokkapati from Monash Materials Science and Engineering.

The discussions focused on potential partnerships in advanced technologies, global health innovation, life sciences, biotechnology, medical devices, sustainable engineering and critical minerals research.

The Minister proposed a range of initiatives between Monash University and Telangana’s leading research and academic institutions including joint research programs, collaborative projects, faculty and student exchanges, and co-innovation partnerships.

He also discussed Telangana’s rapidly expanding innovation ecosystem highlighting key initiatives such as Bharat Future City, AI City, AI Innovation Hub, Centre of Excellence in Quantum Computing, Telangana Data Exchange (TGDeX), T-Hub and T-Works.

“Telangana is building an ecosystem that fosters global partnerships, cutting-edge research and innovation. Our goal is to position the state as a Global Innovation Hub through collaborations with world-class institutions like Monash,” Minister Sridhar Babu Duddilla said.

The meeting marks a promising step toward further deepening Australia–India collaborations, linking Monash’s research excellence with Telangana’s fast-growing innovation landscape.
