Getting support and advice
We’re here to support you throughout your time at Monash, with our network of services, including advice on responding to an academic progress notice, free counselling, health and wellbeing support, financial assistance, help finding accommodation, disability services and more.
So if you’ve received an email about your academic progress or you’re finding things are getting on top of you, or you just need some advice or assistance, we encourage you to reach out and get the help you need, when you need it.
Have you received an email about your academic progress?
If you fail any units or fail to meet a compulsory course requirement or enrolment condition, this will be considered as part of your academic progress. Your notice of unsatisfactory academic progress will explain what you need to do next, for example, you'll be asked to complete one of two tools: My Progress and Support or My Academic Progress Response. A non-response will be taken seriously by your managing faculty.
Student Rights and Advocacy Officers (Australia)
Your student association can provide you with free and confidential support and advice that's completely independent from the University.
Student Rights Officers (SROs), also known as advocates, or their equivalent are available at your campus to:
- help you prepare your response to an academic progress email (including advising you on the evidence to provide in support of your written response)
- support you at an Academic Progress Committee hearing by helping you prepare and accompanying you
- provide advice about appeals against exclusion.
Student Advisory and Support (Malaysia)
This service is available to:
- help you prepare your response to an academic progress email
- support you at an Academic Progress Committee hearing by helping you prepare and accompanying you
- provide advice about appeals.
Your student association is also available to provide you with support and advice.
Student Success Adviser (Indonesia)
A Student Success Adviser can give you advice on how to respond to a notice of unsatisfactory progress. They can also help you understand any other part of the academic progress process.
