Verify a students' qualifications (for employers)
There are several ways a potential employer or institution can verify a Monash graduate's qualification (award), depending on when they graduated.
For awards received in 2017 or after:
- ask the graduate to share their award through My eQuals, or
- search the Monash graduates database, or
- request an Enrolment Status or Qualification Confirmation. This information is confidential, so you’ll need written consent from the graduate. Cost: $39.
For awards received before 2017:
- Search one of our free databases, or
- Request a Qualification Confirmation. This information is confidential, so you’ll need written consent from the graduate. Cost: $39
For students, graduands and graduates
Students who need to provide proof of their enrolment status, qualification, forecast completion date or graduation can order a student letter.
If you've finished your course or are recently graduated and waiting to receive your documents to apply for a job, you can use your:
- academic record (transcript)
- proof of qualification letter
- formal conferral letter (research students – you’ll receive this within a month of your thesis certification – otherwise use another option).
Once you’ve received your digital graduation documents, you can share them with your prospective employer through My eQuals. See sharing your digital documents.
Searching a database to check qualifications
To check a past Monash student’s degree, search one of our databases.
Monash graduates database: 1978–present
To search our Monash graduates database, you need to know the graduate's full name, and their date of birth or year of graduation.
If you can’t find the graduate, it could be that:
- they’ve successfully completed their course, but have not attended an official graduation ceremony
- their name has changed since graduating
- your spelling or formatting of their name does not match ours
- they graduated before 1978.
Graduation ceremonies database: 1963–1990
Our graduation ceremonies database covers ceremonies held by the University from 1963 to 1990 (and by its amalgamation partners from 1968 to 1990). To search the database you need to know the graduate's full name, their year of graduation, and the institution they graduated from.
If you can't find a graduate, it could be because:
- they’ve successfully completed their course, but have not attended an official graduation ceremony yet
- their name has changed since graduating
- your spelling or formatting of their name does not match ours.
Keep in mind that the University Archives can’t verify qualifications or provide academic transcripts – contact Monash Connect instead if this is what you need.

Post-nominal search
Post-nominals are the abbreviations of awards, which appear on your certificate. You can use a search to find the post-nominal for an award, or vice versa.
