2024 parking arrangements
From Monday 19 February, the following parking pricing changes will take effect:
2024 parking prices during non-peak periods
Prices for non-peak periods have been adjusted as follows, to meet the increased operational and maintenance costs associated with parking:
- Blue permit areas: $0.58/hour, capped at $2.90 daily
- Red permit areas (Clayton, Caulfield, Peninsula): $1.07/hour, capped at $5.35 daily
- Red permit areas (Parkville): $1.41/hour, capped at $7.05 daily.
Red permit areas for Clayton, Caulfield, Peninsula are only available to students after 10.30am.
Peak pricing during high demand periods
In 2023, our campuses experienced a return to pre-COVID attendance growth, with parking occupancy matching 2019 levels during weeks one to four of both semesters last year.
Across our campuses, our 2023 data revealed 100 per cent usage for parking in Blue and Red permit zones during peak periods. Anticipating a surge in the campus population and parking demand for 2024, we expect to exhaust all permit parking spaces on peak days.
To better manage parking during these periods, peak pricing will be implemented in both Blue and Red permit areas in 2024. We strongly encourage you to explore alternative modes of transportation whenever feasible. A shift from single-occupancy vehicles towards sustainable alternatives such as carpooling will contribute to Monash University's Net Zero Transport Strategy by reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with travelling to Monash campuses.
For the first four weeks of the semester (weeks one to four), the following Blue and Red permit pricing will apply for Clayton, Caulfield and the Peninsula campuses, adjusted to align with public transport fees:
- Blue permit areas: $1.06/hour, capped at $5.30 daily, aligned with myki concession price
- Red permit areas: $2.12/hour, capped at $10.60 daily, aligned with myki full fare rate.
These prices will also apply during graduations at the Clayton campus that occur during teaching periods.
