Generative AI is already here so we can't ban it and can't ignore it. Our best option is to teach students how to use it ethically and effectively.
The information and citations it produces are often false or unreliable, so students need to know how to check them.
In talking to students, put the emphasis on the learning process (e.g. reading sources critically and synthesising information) rather than the product (essay, report etc).
