Benefits of using Zoom

There are a number of benefits to using Zoom for your teaching:

• Zoom allows for a two-way communication via video, audio and text chat
• Participants in the session can also share their screens, annotate resources, take polls and split off into smaller breakout rooms
• Zoom is easily accessible via laptop, desktop or smartphone giving students many ways to access the synchronous online session
• Meetings can be set up and linked inside your Google calendar via a Zoom plugin or via the Zoom integration with Moodle
• Zoom integration between Panopto and Moodle allows new Zoom cloud recordings to be uploaded directly to your Moodle unit's Panopto folder, which can then be easily made available to students in Moodle
• Recurring meeting for a weekly lecture or tutorial groups can be set up so that students only have one link to access the live session
• Students can create their own Zoom meetings
• Zoom has a number of security features to keep your sessions private and avoid uninvited guests
