Video: e-waste workshop
Early in 2019, Research Fellow Melisa Duque co-ordinated a workshop between the government, academic, industry and charity sector to start the conversation about what to do with e-waste.
From the 1st of July 2019 an e-waste ban from landfills will be implemented in Victoria, Australia. This transition will lead to an increase of e-donations coming to charity shops. The Emerging Technologies Research Lab from Monash University facilitated this workshop with representatives from the government, academic, industry and charity sector to discuss the challenges and opportunities of this transition.
This video presents a glimpse of the rich discussions of participants had about the future of e-waste. Including also the topics of: circular economies, reuse, op-shops, recycling value, collaborative networks, repair, geolocation, dumping, ethnographic research, design anthropology and 'digital vintage'.
