Book Launch: Design for Transformative Learning

Come join us for the official launch of the 2022 book Design for Transformative Learning: a practical approach to memory-making and perspective-shifting written by Lisa Grocott and published in Routledge's "Design for Social Responsibility" series. This event is hosted by the Emerging Technologies Research Lab.

The creative strategies in the book offer a playful and practical approach to learning from and adapting to a rapidly changing world. Positioning transformative learning as more than the acquisition of new skills or knowledge, this book presents a design-led approach to unlearning old habits and embracing new practices. The book braids international case studies and design research practice narratives with interdisciplinary literature from transformative learning, affect theory, psychology, neuroscience and Indigenous knowing.

Stop by to hear interdisciplinary reflections on how the social, unsettling, sensorial, and co-creative learning encounters can seed transformative change. Stay on to celebrate over a drink and some refreshments.

When: Monday 19 September, 5.15–7.15pm (drinks begin at 5:15 for a 5:45 start).

Where: Swinburne Studio, ACMI, Federation Square, Melbourne
