He is an urban anthropologist, who has always been interested in the relationship that human beings establish with the city with particular attention on periphery, marginality, and interstices. In 2010 he started to study cultural anthropology at the University of Bologna, Italy, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in 2014 and a master’s degree in 2016. In 2017 he continued his studies with a second-level master's degree in cooperation and development at the University of Pavia, after which he began to work in international cooperation with an Italian NGO in Palestine and then in Lithuania with a local NGO before moving to Colombia for starting his Ph.D.

Emma Quilty is a research fellow in the Emerging Technologies Research Lab working on the ARC Linkage project "Net Zero Precincts: an interdisciplinary approach to decarbonising cities". One of the core objectives of the project is to develop a theoretical and methodological approach to net zero transitions, with new modes of understanding and envisioning sustainable futures at the precinct scale and bringing a design anthropological approach to the sustainability transitions literature. The project is currently in the second phase which has a primary focus on envisioning net zero futures, in this tech talk Emma will talk about the theoretical and methodological approach the team took to the recent workshops - from the infamous terrariums to walking tours to design cards, as well as the challenges of bringing together transitions management approaches together with design anthropology.
