Welcome to the ETLab, Dr Jessie Liu

Dr Jessie Liu joins us as a Research Fellow on the Home Helper Robots priject, led by Professor Yolande Strengerss

Dr Jessie Liu is a sociologist of race, gender, and work that is situated across Feminist Science and Technology Studies (STS), Asian studies, and Migration and Diaspora studies. Jessie is currently a Research Fellow at the Emerging Technologies Research Lab at Monash University where  she will critically examine the rise of cute home helping robots and the promise that these robots are said to offer families and households as carers and companions. Jessie completed her PhD in Sociology at the Australian National University and her doctoral thesis 'Formulas of Chineseness' was awarded the 2024 ANU Gender Institute Prize for Excellence in Gender and Sexuality Research and shortlisted for the Inter-Asia Cultural Studies Dissertation Prize.
