Welcome visiting researcher, Dr Eva Iris Otto, University of Copenhagen

This week we welcome Dr Eva Iris Otto from the Center for Tracking and Society at the University of Copenhagen. Eva will be visiting the ETLab until the end of November 2025.

Eva Iris Otto is a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Tracking and Society at the University of Copenhagen, with a Phd in anthropology also from Copenhagen University. Her research explores the relation between digital technological development and values within society. Specifically, she studies the makers of data- and software-infrastructures within empirical contexts of app-making and digitalization of mortgage finance. Theoretically she aims to explore the interconnection between political economic perspectives with mundane everyday work experiences. Methodologically, she employs classic ethnographic methods, as well as explorative multimodal and computational methods. Her work engages themes such as infrastructural power and dependency, datafication, markets and public spheres, brokerage, attention economies, and professional ethics and value.
