Late last year, Monash Tech Talks held ‘Is AI Inclusive? The Great Debate’’ – hosted by pioneering Australian comedian Rod Quantock.

A panel of leading IT academics and industry thinkers put forward arguments about inclusivity and AI, and shared how we can incorporate equity and diversity principles into this technology. Attracting an overwhelming amount of interest, this witty one-hour Tech Talk is being replayed online from Friday 17 April for four weeks.

On Friday 1 May from 12.30pm to 1pm, join a live online Q&A with panellists Associate Professor Yolande Strengers and Dr Aldeida Aleti to answer any burning questions you have on AI and inclusion.

Associate Professor Strengers is a digital sociologist and human-computer interaction scholar investigating the sustainability and gender effects of digital, emerging and smart technologies. At Monash, she leads the energy futures theme in the Emerging Technologies Research Lab, which undertakes critical interdisciplinary and international research into the social, cultural and experiential dimensions of the design, use and futures of these technologies.

Dr Aleti is a Senior Lecturer in Cybersecurity Systems at Monash University. Her research interests lie in automated software engineering, which focuses on creating machines that write software – from requirements elicitation to design, code generation, testing and code repair. This involves applying and advancing novel AI and optimisation techniques.
