Event: remaking waste – opening forum
Join us in the opening event of the Remaking E-Waste Lab.
Electronic waste is one of the biggest challenges of the digital age.
Remaking e-waste is a week-long event (16 -20 March) as part of Melbourne Design Week 2020. We invite designers, artists, creative writers and anyone interested in exploring solutions to e-waste to engage in a series of speculative exercises to imagine and shape new lives for old electronic devices.
In this forum, a group of experts will discuss the role of repair in tackling e-waste and shaping a future circular economy.
Speakers include:
John Gertsakis. E-Waste Watch Institute
Michelle Fisher. Melbourne Repair Café & Sharing Shed
Jenni Downes. Monash Sustainable Development Institute
Simon Lockrey. School of Design, RMIT University.
Scott Mayson. Program Manager Industrial Design, RMIT University
Will LeMessurier. MRI E-Cycle Solutions
The Remaking Waste Collective will introduce the speculative repair workshops and exhibition that will be run as part of the Melbourne Design Week.
This event is part of Melbourne Design Week 2020, an initiative of the Victorian Government in collaboration with the NGV.
