Tips for using Gradebook
![]() | Set up all your grade items before the start of the semester to match your assessment regime Taking the time to set up your gradebook before the start of the teaching period will save you returning during classes to make changes. Students will see a correct reflection of the assessment regime, and you will minimise the need for grade recalculations. |
| Use the grade feature within the activities Many Moodle activities have a built-in interface to grade students’ work within Moodle. The Assignment interface allows you to add comments and annotations directly to student work, and provides for anonymous marking and advanced workflows. |
![]() | Take advantage of automatic marking in Moodle activities Quiz and Lesson both provide largely automated marking, meaning you can return timely marks and individualised feedback to students quickly and easily by setting up these activities ahead of time. |
![]() | Get to know the Grader Report The Grader Report provides a high level overview of all students and graded activities in your Moodle unit. When student assessments are graded directly in the Moodle activity itself, grades which are recorded automatically populate the Grader report. This is a great way for you to access, review and edit the grade for every team and every student, all in one page. |
![]() | Tell student when and where they can see their grades You can control when (or if) students get access to their grades and feedback. Moodle offers many opportunities to provide rich and personalised feedback to students on their work throughout the teaching period. |
