What is Panopto?
Panopto is a Monash supported video application that enables you to embed existing videos, record new video content, and share videos directly to Moodle. It has an array of features to support your video needs and create more engaging learning experiences for students.

View
View frequently asked questions about Panopto. You can select Expand all and then use CTRL + F (PC) or CMD + F (MAC) to search for keywords.

Check that your video is hosted on Panopto and embedded in Moodle using the Panopto icon, instead of inserted using the multimedia icon. Panopto videos will have automatically generated captions. For more information, see Embed video and audio in Moodle with Panopto.

This can occur when your monitor display setting defaults to 150%. This can be fixed by changing the display settings of your browser to 100%.
- Right-click on your desktop (PC).
- Click Display settings.
- Under Scale and layout, change this setting from 150% to 100%. Your display will automatically be updated.
- Try embedding your Panopto video again.

Use the ATTO text editor for embedding. TinyMCE (the preferred editor) does not currently have a Panopto icon for inserting or uploading videos. To switch between text editors, see Select default text editor.

The support students need with Panopto will depend on how you plan on using it.
Provide clear instructions
If you are using it as a way to share videos with students, then it is important to provide sufficient instructions so they know when they should watch it, whether there is an embedded quiz or if there are any key points they should take from the video.
Make the video accessible
Adding closed captions to your videos will make videos more accessible for students and will be extra helpful for those who require additional language support.
Increase interactivity by adding quiz questions
Take advantage of the quizzing feature in Panopto to support students learning of the content by integrating questions to get them to think about the content, reflect on the concepts or test their knowledge.
Provide support materials if students are using Panopto to create videos
If you are using Panopto as an assessment tool, then it is very helpful to students if you can share with them the student guides or even the educator guides on how to use Panopto to record and edit videos.
