Cost

All accounts must be paid the same day as your appointment.

Vaccinations and procedures

We keep our fees low for the Monash Community, but you might be charged an additional fee for procedures, dressings and vaccinations – we’ll discuss this with you beforehand.

You may have to pay a private fee for your doctor’s appointment if you’re having a procedure, but you can claim a refund from Medicare afterwards.

Students

Students Payment method for doctor’s visit
Medicare cardholders Bulk billed (no out-of-pocket cost)
International students insured with Allianz Care Australia or Bupa Directly billed to your insurer (no out-of-pocket cost)
Students insured with any other company Up-front payment (then claim a full refund from your insurer)

Families of students

We charge a discounted fee for family members of students, but you’ll need to pay for vaccines, medicines and if you have a procedure.

Visitors

Visitors are privately billed. If you have any vaccines or a procedure, this will be in addition to the doctors fees.

Cancellation policy

If you can’t make your GP appointment, make sure you cancel early so someone else can get the care they need.

If you're a student (or family member) and you miss an appointment, or cancel less than 1 hour before your scheduled time, a $45 Fail to Attend fee will apply. Cancelling early means another student can get seen sooner – you can cancel anytime online or by phone.

This policy applies to GP appointments for students and their families only. Fail To Attend fees for visitors remain unchanged at $60.

Thank you for helping us keep GP appointments available for everyone who needs them.

Appointment types

A Telehealth appointment is an appointment with a doctor that’s done through phone or video call.

If you’re a new patient, or you haven't visited one of our UHS clinics for a face-to-face appointment in the last 12 months, you’ll need to come into the clinic for a face-to-face appointment (you won’t be able to book a Telehealth appointment).

We recommend you continue to visit our UHS clinics for regular health checks and routine follow-up appointments that can't be provided through Telehealth. Appointments requiring in-person attendance include:
  • clinical placement
  • childhood vaccinations
  • antenatal care
  • wound care
  • cervical screening
  • blood pressure checks
  • pathology tests.

If you're coming in, you'll need your:

  • Monash ID card
  • Medicare, OSHC, or Health Care Card
  • IHI number (for non-Medicare cardholders).

Registration forms

You’ll need to complete a registration form before your first visit.

You can either:

Non-Medicare cardholders

All non-Medicare cardholders will need to have an IHI number to receive electronic prescriptions. This means that if you see a doctor for a Telehealth appointment, they can send your script to you electronically (usually through SMS).
