2025 parking arrangements
From Monday 3 March, changes to parking pricing across our Clayton, Caulfield, Peninsula and Parkville campuses for 2025 will come into effect.
The Pay As You Use (PAYU) parking system remains the most effective way to ensure the campus community pays only for the parking they use.
Removal of peak pricing periods
While peak pricing can effectively manage parking demand, maintaining a meaningful impact on parking availability would require significantly higher parking fees than those in 2024. Given the current cost-of-living pressures, the University has deemed such an increase inappropriate at this time, prioritising affordability for students and staff. Therefore, peak pricing will not apply in any permit areas in 2025.
Parking pricing from Monday 3 March
- Prices have been adjusted as follows, to meet the increased operational and maintenance costs associated with parking:
- Blue: $0.60/hour, capped at $3.00 daily
- Red (Clayton, Caulfield, Peninsula): $1.10/hour, capped at $5.50 daily
- View the full details for 2025 PAYU Parking Prices.
- Parking on Friday will continue to be free in Red and Blue permit areas for students. However, students must start an OPark session to receive free parking on Fridays.
More permit options for students
For students travelling to campus regularly, new permit options will be available as an alternative to using OPark:
- Students will be eligible to purchase 28-day Blue parking permits from Monday 3 March.
- Annual permits, priced at the rate of 4 days x 52 weeks, will be available for students (Blue only), effective from Monday 3 March. You can purchase a permit from 18 February via vPermit.
Parking options during high demand periods
- Traffic management will be provided on campus during busy times to help manage demand.
- When Blue and Red permit areas are full, students have the option to use meter parking areas at the standard meter rates.
- Additionally, extra off-campus parking is accessible within walking distance of Clayton campus at 738 Blackburn Road.
- With the removal of peak pricing periods, the Clayton off-campus zone codes (Blue and Red) may now be used cross-campus (except at Parkville).
Reminder to start your parking session
- Please remember to start your parking session using the OPark app every time you park on campus if you choose to use PAYU parking. We recommend you use the creating smart parking reminders guide, which explains how to set a calendar reminder or download reminder apps to assist you in remembering to start your parking session.
