Before your exam

Step 1: Check your timetable

Your assessment timetable is published in Allocate+ four to six weeks before the assessment period. It’ll tell you the type of exam you have. You should check your timetable regularly and just before exam day to make sure there hasn’t been any last-minute change to your assessment details.

Step 2: Get your laptop/pc and smartphone ready

  1. Check the device and system specifications and use our secure device test to confirm your laptop is set up correctly to run an eExam.
  2. If you have an eExam using Safe Exam Browser, download and test the software before exam day.
  3. Contact Exam Support if you need any help setting up your device.

Step 3: Learn how to access your eExam

  • Read the emails we send you about preparing for your exams.
  • Bookmark the link to the eExam platform: https://eassessment.monash.edu.
  • Make sure you know your Monash account password as you’ll be using an incognito browser window on the day.
  • You’ll also need to use Multi-factor authentication (Okta) to log in on the day.
  • If you’re new to eExams, try out our General Knowledge Practice exam to familiarise yourself with the software.

Step 4: Prepare everything you’ll need on the day

You need to bring:

  • a laptop – you'll have access to power for the duration of your exam, but we recommend you bring your laptop fully charged and also bring an Australian compliant charging cable/plug in case you need to access power. You can also bring a battery pack if you have one. Make sure you’ve checked the computer requirements (if you have a final assessment and your device doesn’t meet the minimum specifications for an eExam, you might be able to arrange a loan device)
  • headphones with a working microphone, so exams staff can communicate with you online if required
  • your M-Pass (student ID card/digital M-Pass) or a government-issued photo ID
  • any materials authorised for your exam (e.g. calculator)
  • if your eExam requires some handwritten answers:
    • a blue or black pen, or an HB or 2B pencil
    • pre-printed answer sheets (available in the exam room)
    • your smartphone, to photograph and upload your handwritten answers.

Step 5: Check the eExam rules

Check the authorised materials for your eExam and familiarise yourself with the latest eExam rules. This is important, as there are serious consequences for plagiarism, collusion and cheating.

Step 6: Plan your travel

On the day of your on-campus eExam, it's a good idea to arrive on campus around one hour before your exam is due to start to complete the eExam check-in process.

Arriving early allows you time to find a car park, check-in, locate your exam room and set yourself up so you're not rushing.

Plan your travel and parking in advance to avoid unnecessary delays and stress on the day.
