2026 parking arrangements
From Monday 2 March, annual changes to parking pricing across our Clayton, Caulfield, Peninsula and Parkville campuses for 2026 will come into effect. We're also sharing other parking news.
Please note that parking continues to be limited, so it’s important to plan your journey to campus thoughtfully to avoid delays or difficulty finding a space.
Parking pricing changes from Monday 2 March
- Prices have been adjusted to meet annual operational and maintenance costs associated with parking:
- Blue: $0.62/hour, capped at $3.10 daily (up from $3 daily)
- Red (Clayton, Caulfield, Peninsula): $1.14/hour, capped at $5.70 daily (up from $5.50 daily)
- Red (Parkville): $1.52/hour, capped at $7.60 daily (up from $7.30 daily).

Broadening access for students
- From 2 March 2026, students at Clayton, Caulfield, and Peninsula can park in Red permit areas without the previous 10am restriction.
- This will provide more parking options for students on our campuses.
- Red permit areas at Parkville campus will remain staff-only.
- When Blue and Red permit areas are full, students and staff have the option to use meter parking areas at the standard meter rates.
Continuing for 2026
- PAYU parking with OPark remains the most effective option for the hybrid working model.
- No peak pricing in permit areas.
- More parking options: During busy periods, extra off-campus parking at 738 Blackburn Road, free parking at 264 Ferntree Gully Road, and other measures will help manage demand. Read more.
- Free parking on Fridays in Red and Blue permit areas for students and staff (OPark session is required).
Permit options for students
- Virtual permits via vPermit will remain available as an alternative to using OPark, reflecting student and staff feedback that they are a valued option.
- A virtual permit (28 day or annual) is a digital parking permit linked to your vehicle registration, meaning there’s no physical permit to display and no need to set or manage it manually.
- Students can begin purchasing permits through vPermit, with all new permits becoming effective from Monday 2 March 2026.
- Blue and Red permits are priced based on a weekly rate equivalent to four days of parking, which includes free parking on Fridays.
- 28-day permits are calculated over four weeks, and annual permits on 52 weeks.
Reminder to start a parking session
- If you’re using PAYU parking, always start your parking session using the OPark app every time you park on campus.
