Student Contribution Amount 2009
For Commonwealth supported students, units are grouped into four broad bands. The band in which the unit is located determines the student contribution amount (SCA) for that unit. Usually, the units a student is required to enrol in to complete their course will each fall into the same band.
The following table outlines the annual student contribution amount for a full time student who is enrolled in a standard full-time course where all units are in the same band. Students typically undertake 8 units each year. Units are normally 6 credit points each. In a standard full-time year, students will study 48 credit points.
The transitional arrangements for pre-2005 students and pre-1997 students end on 31 December 2008, regardless of whether students have completed their courses. From 1 January 2009, continuing former pre-2005 and pre-1997 students will be covered by the same arrangements as apply to students who commenced in 2005.
Some students who were enrolled prior to 2008 and have not completed their course in a non-Natural and Physical Sciences (non-NPS) course of study, and on or after 1 January 2009, transfer to a Natural and Physical Sciences (NPS) course of study, may be eligible for a National Priority rate for Mathematics, statistics and science units and the pre-2008 Band 3 rate for Accounting, Administration, Economics and Commerce units.
